Today Exeter Youths under 9s walked away defeated by Newton Abbott on home soil after a close match.

With two players taken off for injury in the first half Exeter Youths appeared to struggle with their line formation, hold and team communication.

Newton Abbott came at the Exeter Youths purposeful showing superb defending, line formation and great communication within the whole team.

This served them well in the first half, but however strong there defence was, match one saw excellent tries scored by:

James, Savannah, Reuben and Max

Following a positive and proactive talking to from the coaches at half time match two clearly saw Exeter Youths more motivated and determined.

The Exeter Youths started the match with clearer communication, impenetrable line formation which was held firm and great defending and passing within the team.

Match two saw some exceptional tries scored by:

Ruben 2 tries, Harvey and Jacob

Despite the loss it was a brilliant effort for the Exeter Youths boys and girls and there are some real positives to work on in this Friday’s training.

A massive shout out and congratulations goes to the courageous Daniel who was this week’s man of match. Daniel was voted for by the coaches for his magnificent tackling and his learning on the pitch and listening to his coaches and ref.

Another shout out and congratulations goes to Aston who was player of the week. Aston was voted for by the coaches for his can do attitude during training Friday and todays match.
