MATCH REPORTS – U10s v Okehampton

Once again, with Paul Hargreaves away on his coaching course, this is a very basic match report, there was so much going on today on the pitch it was hard to keep up! I’d like to say it was lovely to see Harrison B back to training this morning after a nasty injury, it was good to see you Harrison!

We welcomed Okehampton to a sunny but cold and windy Bravelands this morning. Well done to John Broom on reffing his first match. Okehampton brought a strong side and some of their players dwarfed our guys but that didn’t phase our boys!

First quarter

JJ opened the game with a try, closely followed by Oliver H. Okehampton responded with a try of their own. A lovely little interception from Jack W, a quick pass out to JJ to score his second try. From the restart Okehampton scored a try. Harrison crosses the line for a try. Okehampton score a try. Jack S smashes through the Okehampton defence and scores a try. Again, straight from the restart Okehampton break through the Exeter defence to score a try. Closely followed by another try for Okehampton.

End of quarter – Exeter 5 – Okehampton 5

Second quarter

Oliver H scores a quick try from the start. Harrison scores a try from a lovely little pick-up and go. From the restart Okehampton cross the line for a try. Harrison scores again, rolling across the try line! Exeter are forced into touch and Okehampton reply with two quick fire tries. JJ puts in a few twist and turns and a little side step to score a try. Once again, from the restart Okehampton cross the line with a try and this is followed by another two tries for Okehampton.

End of quarter – Exeter 4 – Okehampton 6

JJ twists and turns his way up the field, a nice little side step and he crosses the line for a try. Once again, from the restart Okehampton score a try, quickly followed by two more tries for Okehampton.

Half time – Exeter 9 – Okehampton 11

Third quarter

Harrison crosses the line for a try. JJ is once again twisting a turning his way up the field and crosses the line for a try. There was some fantastic tackling from Harrison and Daniel. Harrison picks up the ball and has a good run up the pitch before being tackled into touch. JJ smashes his way through the Okehampton defence to score. Jack W steals the Okehampton ball, there was fantastic play from all the boys on the pitch, Josh had a great run up the field. Jack S and Harrison were spotted plotting before the restart! Jack S has a great run up the pitch and Elliot crosses the line.

This for me was the best quarter they played today!

Last quarter

The last quarter starts with a well deserved try for Josh as he crosses a strong Okehampton defence. Okehampton reply with a try of their own. Jack S intercepts the Okehampton ball and runs up the pitch. Exeter lose the ball and Okehampton score. Harrison scores for Exeter and the morning finishes with an Okehampton try.
